A new face has joined the American Idol judges’ table, joining Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Carrie Underwood will replacePerry for season 25 of the reality competition series after Perry’s departure, according to several publications.

E! News has contacted Carrie’s representative and ABC for a response. Carrie, who had previously made an appearance on the show as a guest mentor, formally joins the group 19 years after emerging victorious from the competition in season four of American Idol in 2005, defeating Bo Bice.

The Oklahoma native, who is married to Mike Fisher and has two children, Isaiah, age 9, and Jacob, age 5, says the competition series has actually changed her life’s course.

She said, «I learned a lot, I learned an insane amount,» in a May 2022 interview with the Must Watch Show. «And a lot of that is still relevant now; it still guides what I do today. I tried to take in as much as I could throughout star boot camp, and it undoubtedly launched my career.»

The Idol cast, including Katy, offered their opinions on Carrie’s replacement before she made her decision.

She said to E! News in April, «I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show.»
