Gaga (real name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) always looks flawless, whether she’s on the red carpet or out on the town, and that includes some fierce brаless fashion moments.
The «Rain on Me» singer’s fashion choices, like her music, are constantly evolving. «The truth is, I like to be daring,» Gaga admitted to DuJour magazine in 2019. «I believe my style evolves over time.
You know, I want to dress differently from day to day. I went through a period in my life when fashion was almost like shedding a skin for me. If I didn’t feel in control in some way,
I’d dye my hair, wear a wig, or change my clothes completely, and my style would be completely different because I wanted to feel different, like a different person.»
«I reinvent myself because I like to,» the A Star Is Born actress continued. It piques my interest. It makes me think.»
While some of Gaga’s outfits have been labeled as strange or controversial over the years — ahem, her «meat dress» at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards — her goal is never to be shocking just to make headlines.
«I want to be someone who breaks rules for the right reasons,» the «Poker Face» singer explained. «Perhaps that’s part of being daring — breaking some rules, but breaking the right rules.»
What about Gaga’s legacy? She isn’t particularly concerned with being remembered for her numerous honors. «I actually would just like to be remembered as brave.
«I know it sounds strange, but I’d love for people to remember my music, remember my art; that’s wonderful,» the 13-time Grammy Award winner said.
«But I think I’d rather be remembered as courageous and unafraid to speak my mind.»
Though fans are hoping that the House of Gucci actress will wow with another daring look on the 2023 Oscars red carpet, as she is up for Best Song for Top Gun: Maverick’s «Hold My Hand,» Oscars director Glenn Weiss revealed Gaga will not be performing her hit song at this year’s award show.
«We invited each of the five nominees. We have a fantastic working relationship with Lady Gaga and her team. «She is currently filming a movie,» Glenn explained to Variety, referring to the singer-turned-actress’ role as Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux.
«Here, we’re honoring the film industry and what it takes to make a film after a lot of back and forth… It didn’t feel like she could deliver the kind of performance we’re used to seeing from her. As a result, she will not be performing on the show.»
