On November 16, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned the 73rd Miss Universe. The 21-year-old is the first Danish competitor to win the title. She is a competitive dancer, businesswoman, and future lawyer.
Nigerian competitor Chidimma Vanessa finished first runner-up.
Theilvig won the pageant after defeating 124 contestants from all over the world. Before she was crowned, the ensemble competed in national costume contests, swimsuit competitions, and evening gown competitions.
The competition was held two weeks after Italy Mora, a participant from Panama, was disqualified for reportedly meeting up with her boyfriend in a hotel room for an unlawful visit, according to several sources, so the build-up to the main event wasn’t without controversy.
