A princess who was able to interact with an 11-year-old girl in American Sign Language recently allowed her to properly enjoy the Disney magic.

On July 16, Zoe Tapley of New Braunfels, Texas, was at Disneyland with her family when she noticed Princess Anna waving to everyone there. Zoe’s mother Jeanette Tapley, 36, said on «Good Morning America» that she and her husband Jesse enjoy meeting various characters when they go to Disney parks and waited in line to meet the «Frozen» character.

Jesse Tapley, 38, remarked that «[Princess Anna] must have seen us signing to one other.» The characters will occasionally ask questions like, «What’s your name?» or «Nice to meet you,» which is fantastic. But after asking «Can I sign?» I responded, «Yeah,

The Tapleys claimed they were surprised to learn Princess Anna know more than simple sentences in sign language when Zoe approached the cast member. They conducted a full-fledged ASL chat about Zoe’s favorite Disneyland rides and her adoption story from the Congo.

«Wow!» I thought. Realizing Princess Anna could speak with her directly, Zoe informed «GMA» in ASL with Jeanette Tapley’s assistance in translating.

Jesse Tapley and Jeanette Tapley both started crying after the encounter. That level of depth in a conversation with their daughter without the need for an interpreter was a first for a park character.

We’ve gone to Disney a lot, and this was by far the nicest interaction we’ve ever had, according to Jesse Tapley.

It was one of those occasions where she experienced the magic directly, as opposed to having it filtered via her parents.

The fact that Zoe’s ASL development was on display at the time added to its significance. Seven years ago, when Zoe was adopted from the Congo, she had no sign language skills.

I was quite quiet and reserved, and I had no idea how to pick up a language, Zoe remarked.Since then, she has put a lot of effort into enhancing her language abilities at school and with her parents.

«I made progress after progress after progress. And now I only speak ASL in its entirety «said Zoe. I was ecstatic since I could share with my pals and sign everything at Disney.

A representative for Disney stated that experiences like the one Zoe had are «what Disney is all about.»

According to the spokesperson, it’s about «the feeling of belonging to the Disney magic, and the genuine, emotional moments of connection with our characters and our cast.»

Jeanette Tapley decided to upload the moving video she had taken of the encounter on TikTok, where it has already received more than 2.1 million views.

Zoe remarked that she enjoyed watching the outpouring of support on her mother’s video.

I’m glad to learn that my video is well-liked, Zoe said. «These individuals adore it, and there is no bullying. It’s been incredibly lovely.»

Jeanette Tapley claimed that the film has increased awareness of accessibility and what it’s like to raise a deaf child in addition to sharing a pleasant memory.

The thrill of witnessing ASL being praised and given attention, according to Jeanette, is «so lovely and so crucial to our family and to her culture.» It has been truly great.

«Good Morning America» and ABC News are both owned by Disney.
