When her two daughters give her a heartfelt 50th birthday surprise, Drew Barrymore breaks down in tears
Amirah Kassem, the founder of Flour Shop and baker, makes sure Barrymore’s birthday is extra sweet with custom cakes created by her daughters, Olive and Frankie.
«I wanted to bring in two of the very best cake designers ever, and your girls actually designed these themselves!» Kassem reveals as Barrymore, who turns 50 on February 22, starts to get emotional. «So inside there’s letters from the girls,» she says.
The episode airs on February 21 and will include several birthday surprises for Barrymore, including special video birthday messages from Steven Spielberg, Adam Sandler, and Cameron Diaz.
Both baked treats have vibrant decorations. Frankie created one with multicolored flowers piped in front of a buttercream base with stripes of pink and white. The other, created by Olive, has a stick-figure image of her spending a day with her mother and is completely rainbow-themed.
The actress reaches for Frankie’s letter first and tries to read it out loud while crying and determined.
«Dearest mommy, happy birthday,» she starts off. «Isn’t it unbelievable? I love you so much for being the most amazing, compassionate person on the planet for fifty years and for being the most loving, caring mother for twelve. Warmest regards for your birthday, Frankie.
