When they were reunited at the shelter, a Chihuahua believed to have diеd ran into her mother’s arms.
Maile Trist has been grieving for her beloved Chihuahua, Jazzy, for two years. However, when she received an email about her dog, she mistook it for spam. The email stated that her beloved dog, Jazzy, an elderly Chihuahua breed, was discovered wandering at a quarry and was taken to the Cowley County Humane Society. Maile couldn’t believe what she was reading at first.
Maile met Jazzy at the San Diego Humane Society four years ago. There was a sign at her cage that said, «Do not pet,» but Maile somehow ignored it. She fell in love with the adorable puppy inside and claimed to have found her dog.
«I found my gorgeous girl, stuck my hand in the cage, and she walked right up to me, tail wagging, and put her head in my hand,» Maile Trist exclaimed. «I burst into tears because I had found my dog!» Jazzy had found her forever home, and the two had become inseparable.
After two years, the couple relocated from San Diego to Kansas. Maile became preoccupied with the home transfer and found a new full-time job. She didn’t think she had time to look after Jazzy. She met a dog-loving couple and entrusted Jazzy to them until the situation was resolved.
After a few weeks, Maile decided she wanted Jazzy back. She attempted to contact the couple but was unsuccessful. They ignored her calls and removed their social media profiles. They weren’t to be found. Fortunately, her fiancé tracked them down and attempted to reclaim Jazzy.
«The lady told him she died three months ago,» Maile lamented. «A year and a half passed, and there was a lot of crying. I felt terrible giving her to them because I felt I wasn’t there for her final moments.»
Maile, who was devastated, couldn’t forget Jazzy and felt guilty that she wasn’t with her beloved dog when she died. When Maile learned that the senior dog had been found, she dropped everything and went to the shelter, where she stayed. Jazzy’s microchip was to thank for this.
«I came home from work, got in the car, and drove to her,» Maile explained. «I was crying on and off the entire drive there, which was nearly three hours. I couldn’t believe she was still alive, and I had no idea how she got so far away, but I didn’t care in those moments.»
When Maile arrived at the Cowley County Humane Society shelter, Jazzy recognized her right away, and she burst into tears. Jazzy couldn’t stop wagging her tail in delight and was overjoyed to be reunited with her mother after two years.
«She went to sniff around but came right back to me and kissed me even more,» Maile explained. «She would not leave my lap or my arms the whole car ride home, either. She’s been so happy ever since, and she won’t let me go anywhere without her, and I feel the same way!»
Jazzy has returned home, and Maile has resolved never to lose sight of her beloved senior dog again. Maile never learned what happened to Jazzy during the two years she was missing. However, they are now content, and Jazzy is safe. The senior dog is reliving her golden years in the arms of her adoring mother.
«She’s a little whiter than the last time I saw her, and her hips are a little sore,» Maile explained, «but she’s still the same old lady she was before, and I’m so glad she stayed loving these last two years.»
Maile Trist and her senior dog Jazzy have never been apart since.
